This place is famous for many old temples, hills, dams, parks, picnic spots, waterfalls, and most importantly for its traditional handwoven cotton fabric known as - Sambalpuri Saree.

1- Places in Bolangir town

Bolangir tourism presents diverse places of tourist attractions. You will find lakes, palaces, temples, and shrines belonging to various religions all in the city.

Sailashree Palace

The Sailashree Palace is a huge palace where the royal family of Bolangir resided is considered to be the best Palace ever built in Odisha. Here you can also find a beautiful Shiva temple present in the palace complex.

Rajendra Park

Rajendra Park is a hundred years old Park that stands in the heart of the city of Bolangir. The park is adorned by varieties of roses and other flowers,  accentuated by three fountains also equipped with playing areas for kids. There lies a statue you can see of HH Rajendra Narayana Singh Deo who constructed it in the middle of the park.

Karanga Kanta

Karanga Kanta is one of the oldest lakes of Western Odisha. It is a beautiful picnic spot, also has boating facilities to boost tourism all around.

In Bolangir you can have a glance at some Hindu temples e.g. Narasingha Mandir, Samalei Mandir, Maa Durga Mandir, Metakani Mandir and so many.

2- Harisankar

Harisankar Temple is one of the ancient temples of Odisha, located in the surrounding of the picturesque landscape on the southern slope of Gandhamardan Pardan ( hill ). A hill known for its medicinal plants, having varsities of flora and fauna as you can see monkeys all around you also a deer park adjoining to the hill. It is a place of magnificent natural beauty named Harisankar after Lord Vishnu (Hari) and Lord Shiva (Sankar), the dual deities of Hindu mythology. There's a perennial stream that passes on its granite bed. The foaming water sparkle vibrantly as you take a cool bath by sliding along with the stream bringing you the most unexpected happiness.

3- Ranipur Jharial

Ranipur Jharial is famous for the Chausath Yogini temple. The temple was created around 900AD. It is one of the open-air Yogini temples where 64 Yoginis are worshiped everyday. The shape of the temple is on a circular open vault where the 64 yogini temples are on the perimeter wall and in the middle holds a statue of dancing lord shiva. Ranipur Jharial is also known as the 'Soma tritha'.

It is one of the must-visit places in Balangir where everyday tourists gather here to enjoy the beauty of the place.

4- Patnagarh

The major attraction in Patnagarh town includes Maa Pataneswari temple in the town. The best time to visit here is in September or October. During the festive season of Dussehra lots of people gather here for the darshan of maa Pataneswari.

A nice picnic spot Kanha Nursery is also located 10kms away from Patnagrh.

5- Jal Mahadev

Jal Mahadev is situated in Khaprakhol of Balangir district. People who love photography, trekking and camping must visit this place. The specialty of the Jal Mahadev temple is as the name suggests the deity of Lord Shiva is underwater. People offer milk, flowers, and bel leaves. This place has many Shivalingas in the town.

6- Kumuda Pahad

Kumuda Pahad is a major attraction in Titlagarh of the Balangir district. As per the name, it's a hill area where lord Dhabaleswar temple is situated in the cave of the hill. The temple is self is small but as many people's wish comes true after visiting here so many people gather here every day. During Shravan and Shivaratri this place is filled with thousands of visitors.
